Welcome to your Paper Trails onboarding. We’ve designed this process to be simple, guided, and respectful of your time. In just a few short steps, we’ll gather the essentials we need to set up your payroll and HR correctly so your first payroll runs smoothly. Most clients complete this in under 20 minutes, and our team is here to help if you have any questions.

This form gathers the information our team needs to set up your payroll account in isolved. Some of it you'll see is already filled in — we've pre-populated everything we captured during the sales process so you only have to review and confirm, not retype.
The remaining fields cover details we don't typically have yet — tax IDs, banking info, benefits offered, and a few other operational specifics that we need to run your first payroll correctly.

Most clients complete the form in about 15 minutes when they have their documents ready. If you need to step away and come back, your progress doesn't save automatically — so we'd suggest gathering the items below before you start.

Before you sit down to fill this out, it'll help to have these nearby:
- Federal EIN documentation — your EIN confirmation letter from the IRS (CP-575 or 147C), or any prior business tax filing showing your EIN
- Maine state tax IDs — your Maine Withholding ID, Maine Unemployment ID, and Maine PFML account ID (you can find these in your Maine Tax Portal account, ReEmployME portal, and Maine Paid Leave Portal respectively)
- A voided check or bank letter — for the account you want payroll funded from
- Your workers compensation policy — declarations page showing carrier name, policy number, and your agent's contact info
- Your accountant's and financial advisor's contact info — name, firm, email, and phone for each
- Prior payroll provider info (if applicable) — login URL and contact for someone who can share MFA codes when we pull your year-to-date data

Yes. Your information is only used to set up and manage your payroll services. We don't share it with third parties except where required to deliver payroll (like isolved, the IRS, and Maine state agencies).

Once you submit, your dedicated Paper Trails implementation specialist will:
- Review everything you provided
- Reach out to schedule your kickoff call
- Walk you through your isolved setup, answer any questions, and help fill in anything you weren't sure about
- Build out your account and get you ready for your first payroll
